Affriction

As Affrizierung in is phonetics , the transition from plosives to Affrikaten referred. Strongly aspirated plosives can be assumed as an intermediate stage .

An example is the change from Germanic / p /, / t / and / k / to Old High German / pf / (written pf or ph ), / ts / (written z or tz ) or / kχ / (written kch or ch ) by the second sound shift :

  • germ. * p legan ~ ahd. pf lëgan "maintain",
  • germ. * hol t a ~ ahd. hol z "wood",
  • germ. * k orna ~ old Bavarian kch orn "grain".
