The Afghan national water polo team represents Afghanistan in international water polo tournaments.

history

The national team was founded in 2008 by the American marine reserveist Jeremy Piasecki , who is also the coach, which turned out to be difficult as many Afghans do not learn to swim and there is even no uniform name for water polo in Afghanistan. There is also war in the country , with long droughts and cold spells in winter.

The team trains at the US Navy base in Kabul and consists mainly of Afghan soldiers . A long-planned three-month stay in Fallbrook , the coach's home in Southern California , was turned down. As a statement, the United States Embassy in Kabul expressed concern that the players would remain in the United States .
