Afra Schick

Afra Schickh (also Affra Schickin , Afra Schick ; * around 1610 ; † December 11, 1671 in Wiener Neustadt ) was a herbalist and healer who fell victim to the witch craze of the 17th century.

She came from Mariazell , lived in Schlatten near Bromberg and had nine children. The sixty-year-old Kleinhäusler widow was executed in Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria) in 1671.

“In August 1671, the 60-year-old Afra Schickh from the Kirchschlag rule was handed over to the district court of Wiener Neustadt for witchcraft. She was charged with laying on hands and using herbs to help around 100 people. Afra Schickh was sentenced to death at the stake. "

Michael Gsöller, over 70 years old, was sentenced to death with her for sorcery.
