Africa Bottling Company Lda (also ABC Nova Cicer ) is a beverage manufacturer in Bissau . It is the only brewery in Guinea-Bissau .

history

Immediately after the unilaterally proclaimed independence of the Portuguese colony of Guinea-Bissau, the Portuguese entrepreneur Cardoso e Cunha founded the CICER - Companhia Industrial de Cervejas e Refrigerantes ("industrial company for beer and soft drinks") in the capital Bissau in 1973 . The CICER was the only brewery in the country and also produced mineral water and soft drinks.

In 2001 the entrepreneur decided to leave the country and ceased operations. In 2006 Cardoso e Cunha sold its factory to the Moroccan company Africa Bottling Co. for US $ 2 million , which was led to the move by both Guinea's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, Pascoal Baticã and the Moroccan King Mohammed VI. was encouraged. Opened under a new name since 2007, the company also produces beer, mineral water, lemonades, milk drinks and yoghurt there.
