Age of Nemesis are a Hungarian progressive metal band.

history

The band was founded in 1997 under the name Nemesis by Zoltán Fábián, György Nagy, Ákos Thorday, György Pethe and Mihály Szerecsen. In 1998 they recorded their first album Nemesis on their own. Their manager Lajos Gulyás got them a record deal with the label GU ^ LA Records Ltd. in 1999 . , on which they released their second album Abraxas that same year. They were already one of the headliners on the Hungarian Progfest tour in 1999 . After three more tours through Hungary, the band broke up on December 16, 2000.

However, as manager Gulyás believed in success, he persuaded the main songwriter Zoltán Fábián and György Nagy to continue. Two months later, on February 24, 2001, the new line-up was set up : Csaba Berczelly on bass, László Nagy on drums and Zoltán Kiss (ex- Belfegor ) on vocals . In April they started re-recording their first two albums, but this time in English. For Promotional Use Only has been sent to over 80 labels and music magazines worldwide. While waiting for a new contract, they took part in the 2001 tour of the Progfest , performed at several Hungarian festivals and started an instrumental project.

They were voted the best band without a contract in 2001 by the Rock Hard readership . The new record deal came from the US-Americans The Laser's Edge , with whom they released their first English-language album Eden? published in 16 countries. However, problems arose with the publication of Psychogeist and so the collaboration was ended again.

In December 2002 the concept album Terra Incognita was released in Hungary. For the time being there was no label for the English version. Therefore, they produced the promotional DVD For Promotional Use Only II . In October 2003 they played as the opening act for the Swedish band The Flower Kings . On January 15th, 2004 Csaba Berczelly left the band and was replaced on March 7th after several auditions by Gábor Krecsmarik. In the summer they played a few concerts again, including as the opening act for Judas Priest and Queensrÿche .

The second promo brought them a contract with the Magna Carta label , but before that they had to change their name to Age of Nemesis in August 2005 . The new label then released Psychogeist first in spring 2006 and finally the English version of Terra Incognita on February 2, 2007 .
