Agelos ( ancient Greek Ἄγελος ) is a son of the god Poseidon and a nymph of Chios in Greek mythology .

Pausanias reports on an otherwise unrelated story by the playwright Ion von Chios , in which Poseidon's visit to the island is dealt with. Poseidon comes to the island when it is still uninhabited, with a nymph he fathered the eponymous hero of the island, who got his name Chios because of the snowfall that began at birth. With another nymph he fathered Agelos and his twin brother Melas .
