The Agency for Modernization of Ukraine (AMU) is a non-governmental organization . The AMU is committed to political stability and economic growth in Ukraine .

founding

It was founded in March 2015 and is based in Vienna . The former Austrian politician Michael Spindelegger was President of the AMU until the end of 2015. Before moving to the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) as Director General in January 2016, he presented a final report with 287 reform proposals for the modernization of Ukraine.

The AMU was founded at the suggestion of the Ukrainian social partners, the Ukrainian Trade Unions Federation of Ukraine and the Confederation of Employers of the Ukraine, whose chairman Dmytro Firtash provides the funds for the AMU.

tasks and goals

The AMU wants to work out a modernization program for Ukraine, which is to be presented to the Ukrainian parliament in autumn 2015 . Seven experts from politics and science work on the program : Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz , former Prime Minister of Poland , Otto Depenheuer , jurist from Germany , Bernard Kouchner , Doctors Without Borders founder and former Foreign Minister of France , Lord Ken Macdonald , former Director of Public Prosecutions ( Director of Public Prosecutions ) from England and Wales, Waldemar Pawlak , former Prime Minister of Poland, and Günter Verheugen , former Vice-President of the European Commission.

According to a broadcast by the AMU, there will be a round table in Ukraine in summer 2015 for every field of work. NGOs and citizens of Ukraine should also be involved.
