Aggregation (chemistry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The aggregation is a (loose) assembly of atoms , molecules and / or ions to form a larger association, the aggregate . The agglomeration is caused by van der Waals forces , intermolecular forces or other types of chemical bonds . If the aggregates are formed by molecules of the same type, one speaks of association and association.

In a broader sense, crystalline or amorphous primary particles can also grow or agglomerate to form larger aggregates, that is, glued particles. Particularly when dispersing, there is then the need to "grind" these aggregates again by applying mechanical force.
