The Aghil Pass is a pass crossing in the Aghil Mountains north of the Karakoram .
The 4805 m high mountain pass forms a northern entrance to the Karakoram and was crossed in September 1887 by the British explorer Francis Younghusband coming from the north. The pass represents an alpine transition. From the upper reaches of the Yarkant , one arrives at the pass crossing via the river valleys of Zug Shaksgam and Surukwat from the north. The upper reaches of the Shaksgam lies south of the Aghil Pass . The pass is on the northern border of the Shaksgam Valley annexed by China . It is passable from May to October.
