Agios Sergios , Greek Άγιος Σέργιος (Saint Sergius), Turkish Yeni Boğaziçi (New Bosporus) is a larger village on the east coast of Cyprus and is located in the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus .

history

In 1946, 1,790 people lived in Agios Sergios. Of these, only 82 people were Turkish Cypriot and the rest were Greek Cypriot. In 1958, all Turkish Cypriot residents fled to Famagusta . There were 2,040 people living in Agios Sergios in 1973 before some of the former Turkish Cypriot residents and people from Istanbul and Trabzon came back to Agios Sergios.

Economy and Infrastructure

The main source of income in Agios Sergios is tourism . Many hotels have settled along the long coastline . The national forest area Salamis Ormanı is located between the actual place and the coast.

The place can be reached by car via several roads. The largest street is the Salamis Yolu, which leads from Famagusta to the northeast of the country. The Ercan Airport is about 50 kilometers away by car. From there only destinations in Turkey are served. International airports are located only in the southern half - the Republic of Cyprus .
