Altınova is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the Turkish province of Yalova . The city is home to around 24 percent of the district's population and is just 24 kilometers east of the provincial capital Yalova. It is divided into three Mahalle (districts) and was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) on June 7, 1987 .

The district is located at the eastern end of the province and borders the provinces of Bursa and Kocaeli . In addition to the four cities of Altınova, Kaytazdere (6,546), Subaşı (7,247) and Tavşanlı (3,396 inhabitants), it includes twelve villages, of which Tokmak is the largest with 1,068 inhabitants.
