Termal is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the Turkish province of Yalova . The place is just under 12 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Yalova and according to the city seal was raised to the rank of Belediye (municipality) in 1994 . The city is home to around 54 percent of the district's population and is divided into two mahalle (districts). The name of the city is derived from the thermal springs.
The district is located in the middle of the province, has a coastline over a kilometer wide in the north and borders on the province of Bursa in the south . With 67 km² Termal is the smallest district of Yalova. In addition to the administrative seat (Turkish Merkez ) there are two villages: Akköy (1,927) and Yenimahalle (1,197 inh.). Like all the districts of the Yalova province, the Termal district was established in June 1995. Until then, the places belonged to the Bucak Merkez of the then Yalova district in the Istanbul province .
