Agnes Poirier

Agnès Catherine Poirier (born 1975 in Paris ) is a French journalist who works in London.

Life

Agnès Poirier studied at the Sorbonne and Sciences-Po in Paris and received her doctorate from the London School of Economics (LSE) in 1995 . Since then she has lived mainly in London. She worked as a correspondent for Radio France . Poirier writes for Le Nouvel Observateur , Le Monde and in English for The Guardian , The Times , New Statesman and The Independent on Sunday . She is a correspondent for Marianne , La Vie and for the Italian weekly newspaper L'Espresso . She works as a commentator on the BBC television program .

Between 2001 and 2006 she published film reviews in the Liberation newspaper . She is an advisor to the Cannes Film Festival for English Films.

Poirier published several books from her journalistic work. In 2019, her book On the Banks of the Seine was published in German , in which she wrote about artistic and intellectual scenes in Paris in the 1940s.
