Agnes van Ardenne
Anna Maria Agnes (Agnes) van Ardenne-van der Hoeven (born January 21, 1950 in Maasland ) is a Dutch politician . She was the Dutch Minister for Economic Cooperation in Jan Peter Balkenende's second and third cabinets .
From 1988 to 1994 van Ardenne was a member of the Vlaardingen municipal council for the CDA . From 1990 she served in the municipal administration as a councilor for economic affairs. Within the CDA, van Ardenne was a member of the Commission for Foreign Affairs between 1986 and 1996 and of the advisory body on peace and security issues from 1990 to 1994.
From 1994 to 2002 van Ardenne was a member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament . She was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the North Atlantic Assembly of NATO .
Among other things, Van Ardenne was Vice President of the development aid organization CEBEMO (merged into CORDAID ) and co-founder of the Center for Economic Cooperation in Vlaardingen. She was also the chair of the EPP / EUCD women's group and general secretary of UNICEF Netherlands.
On July 22, 2002 van Ardenne-van der Hoeven became State Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Cooperation in the first Balkenende cabinet. From May 27, 2003 to February 22, 2007 she was Minister without Portfolio with responsibility for Economic Cooperation in the second and third Balkenende cabinet.
