Agostino Busti

Agostino Busti alias Bambaja (* 1483 in Busto Arsizio , † 1548 in Milan ) was an Italian sculptor of the Renaissance .

Life

He was born near Milan and trained in Padua . Later belonged to the master class of Certosa di Pavia . In 1513 he completed the tomb of the poet Lancino Curzio in Milan , and in 1515 he took over the execution of that of Gaston de Foix .

Other works by Bambajas were the Bua monument in Treviso and the graves of Cardinal Marino Caracciolo and Canon Giovanni Vimercati in the cathedral of Milan . Individual figures from these graves were later removed. Bambaja's style is elegant and emphasizes the ornamentation.
