approaches
Within geography, agricultural geography can be assigned to human geography . Traditionally it is seen there as part of the economic geography ( primary sector ). With the advancement of a holistic approach to geography, however, agricultural geography is usually no longer isolated, but carried out in the context of respective regional geographic issues (e.g. mountain research , geographic development research ). As an interdisciplinary field, it also belongs to the agricultural sciences .
In the course of time, different agro-geographical approaches developed:
- Landscape Science ( Otremba 1976)
- Spatial structure of the various manifestations of agriculture and forestry ( Manshard 1968)
- Types of operational forms in the spatial system of vegetation . and climate zones , emphasis on business aspects ( Andreae 1983)
- Behavioral and geographic issues
- Cultural geography aspects ( settlement geography of rural areas , human-environment relationship , cultural ecology )
- Applied agricultural geography for planning the solution of problems between humans and the environment ( rural development )
subjects
Research topics range from location theories of agricultural land use (e.g. Thünensche Rings ), regional agricultural land use systems (e.g. tropics ), through agricultural colonization to the effects of urban sprawl and land consumption .
