The Agri (historical name: Aciris , Ακύρις) is a river in the southern Italian region of Basilicata and is 136 km long. It rises in the Serra di Calvello mountain range near Marsico Nuovo . It then flows east through its up to 7 km wide valley. To the south of Montemurro it is dammed by a dam and there forms the reservoir Lago del Pertusillo . Further east it finally flows into the Ionian Sea at Scanzano Jonico .
