The Ahaura River is a river in the Gray District on New Zealand's South Island . It arises on the western side of the Southern Alps on Mount Ajax from the confluence of the Waiheke and Tutaekuri rivers . The river and flows into the Gray River west of Ahaura , here it is also crossed by State Highway 7 . Right tributaries are the Waiheke River and Nancy Rivers, and left tributaries are Trend River, Waikiti River, and Haupiri River.
