location

The district is located in the middle of the chain of the Ardey Mountains and has the highest point at 247.5 meters on the mountain of the same name on the Upper Ahlenbergweg. It is about 2.5 km to the Dortmund Süd motorway junction in the northeast. The Hengsteysee is 2 km to the south and the golf club to the east is a good 1.5 km.

history

Ahlenberg originally belonged to the end as a district . The Old School Ahlenberg was built here in 1907 . In 1939 this part was incorporated into Herdecke. Here it developed into its own district. Due to the proximity to Dortmund and the popular south of Dortmund, many residents of Dortmund built representative single-family houses and villas from the 1960s, mainly on the south-east slope. Most of the vacant lots in the place, which is mostly surrounded by forests, have now been closed.
