Aianes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aianes ( ancient Greek Αἰάνης ) is a person from Greek mythology .

He is the son of Amphidamas from Lokris , he is slain in anger by the youthful Patroclus after playing dice. In Homer's Iliad , the son of Amphidamas does not yet have a name; one was only given to him by later writers, from whom he was given different names in some cases.

Strabo attributed to him a sanctuary called Aianeioin and a spring called Aianes , located near Opus , but these were probably places of worship of Aias , who was venerated in Lokris , whose Aiolos declination Strabo was not known, and who therefore attributed the places of worship to Aianes.
