Air Burundi is the national airline of Burundi , based in Bujumbura and based at Bujumbura Airport .

history

Air Burundi was founded in 1971 as Societe de Transports Aeriens du Burundi (STAB) and renamed four years later. The flight operations were stopped in 2009 for financial reasons. Since then, the company has only existed as a ground handler at Bujumbura Airport , as a freight forwarder and travel agency. In 2013, with the help of the People's Republic of China, the resumption of flight operations with two free Xi'an MA60s was planned. Until today (as of 2014) flight operations could not be resumed.
