The VSR700 is a helicopter drone of the manufacturer Airbus Helicopters . It is based on the Guimbal Cabri G2 and is being developed for the French Navy as part of the Système de Drones Aériens de la Marine procurement program. For the aircraft powered by a diesel engine, a flight time of over 10 hours is aimed for. The maximum take-off weight MTOW is 760 kg with a payload of up to 250 kg. While Airbus Helicopters takes on the development of the aircraft, the partner DCNS is responsible for the integration into the ship's systems.
Use and equipment
The VSR700 is intended for sea reconnaissance . It can be equipped with radar , daylight and infrared cameras. Also sonar buoys are possible payload. Inflatable life rafts could be carried for rescue tasks .
The first flight attempts were made in June 2017, initially with a safety pilot on board. Attempts at sea on board the French frigate Forbin , a Horizon-class ship , followed. Military approval is aimed for in 2019 and the first possible delivery in 2020.
