Akademie Haus Sonneck
The Akademie Haus Sonneck is a folk high school in Naumburg (Saale) . Her field of activity is youth , adult and further education . The facility is located between Naumburg and the Großjena district, directly above the confluence of the Saale and Unstrut rivers .
History of the property
In the mid-1970s, today's location was used as a winery and weekend home. From 1975 to 1978 the Kulturfonds der GDR acquired the two approximately 4 hectares of land and handed them over to the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR. The chairman was the painter Willi Sitte , who held conferences here. The vineyard was further worked on, the small villas and houses on the site, which had been built around the turn of the 20th century, were renovated and restored and served as accommodation for artists. The entire complex is now a listed building as an ensemble .
In 1989/1990 the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR withdrew from the property. The owner - Kulturfonds der DDR - became the Kulturfonds der neue Bundesländer foundation , whose mission it was to promote art and culture in the new federal states and Berlin . The foundation itself could not make up its mind to continue operating the place as an artist house. The Kulturfonds foundation dissolved at the beginning of the 21st century, and the property is now owned by the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation .
Use as an educational institution
From 1991 to 1993 the DGB federal executive board rented the property from the Kulturfonds foundation and trained legal secretaries. During this time, the employees of the Sonneck property developed their own educational offers for young people and adults in cooperation with the education association Work and Life Saxony-Anhalt eV and invited them to participate.
On this basis, the Sonneck Academy was founded in 1993 as an adult education institution of the Education Association Work and Life Saxony-Anhalt eV. In the same year, the Sonneck Academy applied to the Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt for recognition as a folk high school; the recognition took place in 1996 as "Heimvolkshochschule Akademie Haus Sonneck". The education association Work and Life Saxony-Anhalt eV was transferred in 2003 to the non-profit HVHS Academy Haus Sonneck gGmbH .
The rooms for the seminar participants are in the small villas and houses. A few years ago a new building with modern rooms and a training room was added. The facility has a total of 18 double and 7 single rooms. Since the vineyard is partly operated by the Sonneck Academy, the house can offer red and white wine varieties from its own vineyard.
The educational events of the institution concern the areas of culture and region, politics and society, media and communication, pedagogy and psychology, intercultural education, work and profession.
