The Academy for Data Processing ( ADV ) is a state institution for vocational training and further education in Böblingen . It has been a department at Gottlieb Daimler School 2 in Sindelfingen since 2012 .

The three-year training to become a state-certified computer scientist is carried out at the ADV .

The academy, which has existed since 1972 , is sponsored by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the district of Böblingen . Scientifically trained teachers from the state teach at the ADV.

For many years it consisted of the three-year vocational college for computer science (BKI) , the technical school for economics specializing in business informatics , and the commercial vocational school for IT training professions . After merging with Gottlieb Daimler School 2, it specialized in training as a state-certified IT specialist (BKInf).

In 2019 there are around 650 students at ADV, 150 of them doing internships. The training takes place in class.

The vocational college for computer science (BKI) offers a three-year vocational training course for high school graduates to become a "state-certified computer scientist". The theoretical training in the 1st and 3rd year of study is supplemented by a one-year internship in the second year. An additional exam for CCNA certification is possible.

In the 3rd year, students of general business informatics have the option of choosing between the fields of logistics and systems and networks .

Operating experience

The second year of training consists of a coherent company internship which, due to its duration, provides practical relevance. The intern is involved in a larger project and gets an insight into the project management. He documents his own achievements in the form of an internship. A total of around 500 companies offer internships for ADV students.
