The Academic Sailing Group Karlsruhe e. V. (ASK) is a student sailing club in Karlsruhe . The purpose of the association is to promote sailing . To this end, the association provides sailing training in particular, maintains the exchange of experiences among sailors and promotes participation in and the organization of sailing regattas.

history

The ASK was founded in 1993 by a group of students and employees of today's Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as a registered association (eV) in Karlsruhe. It has been entered in the register of associations since July 19, 1993.

In 2017, the askew , a Comar Comet 38 S, was purchased as a club yacht, which was then transferred independently from the IJsselmeer to the Mediterranean and has been used there for regattas, training and holiday sailing since 2018.

Club structure

The association consists mainly of students and employees of the university but is open to anyone interested. The board of directors is mostly made up of students.

activities

The ASK offers a wide range of sailing training in theory and practice ( sports boat license , sports boat license , Lake Constance skipper's license , radio certificates, etc.) as well as seminars. Regattas are held annually. The flotilla, which has been taking place in Croatia for many years, represents the end of the season together .

The main sea area is the Mediterranean, but some activities also lead to the North or Baltic Sea . There is also training on Lake Constance .
