Akim Oda is a town in the Eastern Region on the Birim River in the West African state of Ghana .

At the last census of the country on March 26, 2000, 38,741 inhabitants lived in the city. Projections for January 1, 2007 estimate the population to be 45,332. In the 1984 census, 24,629 inhabitants were listed. In 1970 the population was 20,957.

The city is currently in 33rd position on the list of the largest cities in Ghana.
