Akmyrat Rejepow ( Russian Акмурад Реджепов Akmurad Redschepow ; † August 10, 2017 ) was a Turkmen officer ( lieutenant general ) and security chief of the President of Turkmenistan.

Rejepow was head of the so-called presidential bodyguard (since 1985) under the Turkmen President Saparmyrat Nyýazow, who died in December 2006, and, according to media reports, had a great influence in the country's military and security apparatus. After Nyýazov's death, he is said to have prevented the transfer of the office of head of state to Parliamentary President Öwezgeldi Ataýew and instead ensured the appointment of Vice Prime Minister Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow . At that time, he was considered a puppet of Rejepov. Rejepov was proposed by the People's Council as one of eleven candidates for the presidential election in February 2007, but he was no longer among the six candidates who actually ran for the election, which was won by Berdimuhammedow.

In July 2007 it was reported that Rejepov had been dismissed from office on May 15 and that he and his son Nurmyrat Rejepov had been sentenced to prison terms of 20 and 13 years respectively for corruption and abuse of office.

Rejepov had no contact with the outside world during his detention and was one of the Turkmen "special prisoners" whose whereabouts an international campaign demanded clarification. He died of thrombosis in a Turkmen prison on August 10, 2017, according to official sources .
