Akoose (also Akosi, Bakossi, Bekoose, Koose, Kosi, Nkoosi and Nkosi) is the language of the Bakossi . It is a Bantu language and is spoken by around 134,000 people in Cameroon .

It is common in the Koupé-Manengouba district in the Sud-Ouest province and in the Moungo district in the Littoral province .

Akoose is written in the Latin script .

classification

Akoose is a Northwest Bantu language and is one of the Ngoe languages ​​within the Lundu Balong group , which is classified as Guthrie Zone A10.

It has the dialects of North Bakossi, West Bakossi, South Bakossi, Mwambong, Ninong, Elung (also Elong, Along and Nlong) and Mwamenam (also Mouamenam).
