Akrea is a former melodic death metal band founded in 2004 under the name Inner Aggression in Erbendorf , Upper Palatinate . In 2008 they signed with Drakkar Entertainment , which also saw their name change, and in April 2009 they released their acrean debut, Lifeline .

history

At the turn of the year 2004/2005 Jonas Nelhiebel, Fabian Panzer and Christian Simmerl decided to found the band "Inner Aggression". In the same year, Sebastian Panzer, Fabian's brother, found a singer, which completed the first line-up. In 2006 the guitarist Stephan Schafferhans joined the band, and the first studio album, Beginning of an inner war , was produced and published independently. After numerous live shows, the record label Drakkar Entertainment , which specializes in metal, became aware of the band.

In November 2008 Akrea signed a contract with Drakkar Entertainment and released the second studio album Lebenslinie , which was produced with Victor “V. Santura “Bullok (Ex- Celtic Frost , Dark Fortress ) was added as a producer. A music video was shot for the song Imperium with the director Alexander Mayer. The album promotion took place as part of the Schre! Nachten tour with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter in December 2009, which led through all of Germany and gave the band the first opportunity to increase their national awareness.

In June 2010 work began on the album Lügenkabinett , which was released on October 22 of the same year. The album was again released in the Woodshed studios by Victor “V. Santura “Bullok produced and also released a limited edition with two bonus tracks. In 2011 a music video was released for the song Meteor . It shows excerpts from concerts by the band on the “Moral und Wahnsinn Tour 2011” (again with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter), and “is primarily intended to convey the atmosphere of the performances”, says guitarist Stephan Schafferhans.

In 2012 and 2013 the band performed at several festivals, including the Metalfest 2012 and the Rockharz Open Air 2013. At the same time, the third studio album was prepared, which was released in August 2013. The recording time for this in the Woodshed Studio was documented in video form by studio reports. A music video was released for the song Feuer und Licht , as well as a lyric video for the veil of flowers .

On February 7th, 2014 the band officially announced their dissolution on their homepage after 10 years of band history. The musicians stated that they wanted to end their collaboration at the end of the year. Reasons for the termination were professional careers and plans to start a family.

style

Akrea's style can be assigned to Melodic Death Metal , but you can always find elements of Black , Thrash , Pagan and Viking Metal . Sebastian Kessler describes the style of music as "Die Apokalyptischen Reiter in härter [...]" in his review of Lebenslinie im Metal Hammer [...] "The vocals are almost exclusively screamed by Sebastian Panzer . Metal Hammer editor Florian Krapp describes this as "too edgy" and sees it as a "limitation" of the music.

The texts, which are written exclusively in German by Sebastian Panzer, deal predominantly with the existence and psyche of the human being, which he expresses metaphorically through and with the fantasy world "Akrea". So the band name is synonymous with the fictional world that the lyrics tell.

In their second album Lügenkabinett , on the other hand, the band mainly deals with general socio-critical issues, which are easier to understand and interpret. Topics are, for example, the spreading internet culture or the increasing restlessness of society.
