Aksoltan Töreýewna Ataýewa ( Russian Аксолтан Тореевна Атаева ; born November 6, 1944 in Ashgabat ) is a Turkmen politician and diplomat. She is the permanent representative of her country to the United Nations as well as the extraordinary ambassador and plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan for Cuba , Brazil and Venezuela .

Life

Ataýewa completed a medical degree at the Turkmen State Institute of Medicine and graduated in 1968 with the title Candidate of Sciences .

After completing her studies, she worked as an ear, nose and throat doctor in the city of Semashko Hospital in Ashgabat , and since 1979 as deputy chief doctor. From 1980 to 1985 she was the deputy head of the health authority at the oblast level in Ashgabat. In 1985 she became Deputy Minister of Health, and from 1990 to 1994 Minister of Health of the Turkmen Soviet Republic and Turkmenistan, which has been independent since 1991.

In 1994, she held the post of Minister of Social Affairs for almost a year before becoming Turkmenistan's representative to the United Nations in New York in early 1995 . In 1995 she participated in General Assembly resolution 50/80, concerning the recognition of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.

In addition to her office at the United Nations, she became her country's ambassador for Cuba in 2008, for Brazil since 2011 and for Venezuela since the end of 2013, both based in New York.

Ataýewa speaks Russian and English in addition to her mother tongue ; She is married and has two kids.
