Basse-Pointe is a commune in Martinique, France . It is located on the Montagne Pelée mountain range and borders Macouba , L'Ajoupa-Bouillon , Le Lorrain and the Atlantic Ocean . The residents call themselves Pointois or Pointoises .

history

In 1848 migrants from India settled at what was later to be the location of Basse-Pointe. Today the village is known for the local agriculture , especially for the cultivation of bananas .
