Action children of the Holocaust

The Children of the Holocaust ( AKdH ) based in Basel is a Swiss association (according to Art. 60 ff. ZGB ) of descendants of survivors of the National Socialist persecution of Jews and the anti-fascist resistance as well as their relatives and friends. It describes itself as an "association against anti-Semitism, racism and political extremism".

  • Acquisition and evaluation of data and information about anti-Semitic, racist and extremist events and developments in the socio-political environment.
  • Education and information for the public about anti-Semitism, racism and political extremism as well as xenophobia and xenophobia.
  • Initiation and implementation of actions and projects to raise awareness and combat anti-Semitism, racism and political extremism.

In principle, any natural or legal person who shares the goals of the AKdH can become a member; The board of the association decides on their admission (final).

Projects

The AKdH projects focus on right-wing extremism prevention and education. Depending on the project, the AKdH coordinates a wide variety of experts. The AKdH patronage committee includes the German Auschwitz Committee , the writers Peter Bichsel and Mariella Mehr , the historian Heiko Haumann , the Jewish personalities François Loeb and Uri Avnery .

In cooperation with various organizations (INACH.net) and authorities - in Germany Jugendschutz.net - the AKdH also takes action against right-wing extremist propaganda on the Internet in certain cases . Such websites can also be reported on the AKdH website.

The Internet street work developed by the AKDH received attention from specialist circles. It was presented to a wider audience at the OSCE conference in Paris on June 16 and 17, 2004.

The AKdH is currently a partner in the interdisciplinary research project VIOLENCE - Youth and violence in connection with socio-ecological structures at the University of Basel . She is also involved in the NRP40 + research project at the University of Basel.

The Internet Streetworking project developed by the AKdH was supported by the Department for Combating Racism with 80,000 francs until 2005. It is currently supported by a foundation and the Swiss Israelite Community Association (SIG).
