al-Arabi ( Arabic النادي العربي الرياضي, DMG an-Nādī al-ʿarabī ar-Riyāḍī ) is a Kuwaiti sports club that plays in the Kuwaiti Premier League . The association based in Mansouria, a suburb of Kuwait City , was founded in 1960.
Al-Arabi footballers have so far represented Kuwait most often in Asian competitions. The home games are played in the Sabah-as-Salam Stadium. The soccer section is the most successful in the country with 16 championships. The national cup could also be won 15 times and is a national record. The 2008/09 season ended the club in fifth place in the league. Due to the cup victory in 2008, the club took part in the AFC Cup 2009 , where it reached the quarter-finals and failed against the Syrian representative al-Karama on penalties.
