Al-Qahir ( Arabic أبو المنصور محمد بن أحمد المعتضد القاهر بالله, DMG Abū al-Manṣūr Muḥammad b. Aḥmad al-Muʿtaḍid al-Qāhir bi-'llāh ; * 899 ; † 18 October 950 ) was the nineteenth Caliph of the Abbasid (932-934).

After the murder of his brother al-Muqtadir , Abu Mansur Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Mutadid al-Qahir bi-'llah was installed as caliph in 932 by the eunuch al-Mu'nis al-Muzaffar. After al-Mu'nis had already controlled the government under al-Muqtadir, he was overthrown and executed in 933 after intrigues.

The tyrannical rule of al-Qahir and the disputes over the position of the regent that followed the death of al-Mu'nis led to the final breakdown of state finances and the complete decline of the Abbasid imperial administration. This now led to the defection of other provinces.

As early as April 934 he was deposed and with ar-Rādī a son of al-Muqtadir was enthroned as the new caliph. When al-Qahir refused to abdicate, he was blinded and imprisoned. Released from prison after eleven years, he is said to have lived as a beggar in Baghdad until his death on October 18, 950 .
