Al-Qassim ( Arabic القاسم, DMG al-Qasim ), in Aramaic Surah , is a city in the Babil Governorate of Iraq .

Al-Qassim is located directly in the valley on the Euphrates and is 20 m above sea level. The place is 27 km from Babil and about 105 km south of Baghdad.
population
According to the last official census in 1965, the population was 7,436. In 2012 there were 38,824 inhabitants.
The population of the place consists mainly of Shiite Arabs .
