Zhu Yuling ( Chinese  朱雨玲 , Pinyin Zhū Yŭlíng ; born January 10, 1995 in Mianyang ) is a Chinese table tennis player . She is the World Cup winner and world champion in doubles and has also won two silver and two bronze medals in singles and doubles as well as two golds with the team at world championships . In 2015 she became the Asian champion.

Career

She was first active internationally in 2010 when she became world champion and vice-Asian champion in singles and doubles in the youth field. In addition, this year she won silver in singles at the Japan Open and silver in doubles at the Austrian Open, and thus her first Pro Tour medals . After entering the world rankings at number 105 in July , she was already at number 25 in August. In the years that followed, she won numerous other medals at World Youth and Asian Championships, in 2012 she won the Kuwait and China Open in doubles, her first adult gold medals. In 2013, her international activity continued to expand, and after reaching the semi-finals of the Kuwait and Qatar Open in February, she moved up to 8th place in the world, which was her first top 10 finish. She also took part in the World Cup for the first time , where she won two bronze medals. In the singles she was defeated in the semi-finals by the Chinese Liu Shiwen , the doubles with Chen Meng came third after a defeat by Ding Ning / Liu Shiwen. At the Asian Cup in the same year, she made it to the semi-finals in singles, but also won gold in doubles and with the team. At the end of the year she took part in the Grand Finals, where she failed in the quarterfinals against Li Xiaoxia .

In 2014 she was part of the Chinese team that won World Cup gold , and with victories at the Kuwait and Swedish Open, she also secured her first individual gold medals on the World Tour. At the 2015 World Cup , she was eliminated again by Liu Shiwen - this time in the quarter-finals - but became double world champion with her. She won gold at the Asian Cup. With a third place in the Asian Cup she also qualified for the first time for the World Cup , where she defeated Georgina Póta 4: 3 in the round of 16 after losing 3-0 , but was eliminated by Li Jiao in the quarter- finals. At the Grand Finals she won bronze in singles and gold in doubles. In 2016, the team won another World Championship gold and the first individual gold medal at the Grand Finals .

The year 2017 started badly for Zhu, at the Asian Cup, like Ding Ning and Chen Meng, she failed against the surprise winner Miu Hirano . For this she was able to beat Liu Shiwen in the semifinals of the World Championships and took silver in both singles and doubles. In September and October she beat Liu Shiwen in the final of the Asian Cup and the World Cup , and as a result moved up to first place in the world rankings for the first time. In 2018 she won the World Cup gold again with the team , at the World Cup she lost the final to Ding Ning. At the Swedish Open in the same year, she also had to admit defeat surprisingly clearly Mima Itō in the final .

As of January 2019, she was no longer number one in the world rankings, but was able to participate in the Asian Cup and through her victory there qualified for the World Cup , in which she won silver. For this she was only nominated in doubles for the World Championship , won no World Tour tournament in singles this year and was eliminated in the first round of the Grand Finals . In February 2020 she was only 7th in the world rankings.
