The Al Seeb Stadium ( Arabic ملعب السيب الرياضي, English Seeb Sports Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Sib district of the Omani capital Muscat . It is the home of the football clubs Seeb Club , al-Rustaq SC , al-Shabab and Fanja SC .
history
The facility, inaugurated in 2004, has a capacity of 8,000 spectators (according to other sources it is 14,000). It offers 38 VIP seats and 54 press seats. The Al Seeb Stadium, located just outside of Muscat, is the largest pure football stadium, without an athletics facility around the pitch, in the Omani capital. Apart from a small canopy in the middle of the main stand, the spectator seats are in the open air. The four separate tiers are completely equipped with different colored plastic seats (red, green and blue). The sports facility is illuminated by a floodlight system on four masts in the open stadium corners. A display board sits enthroned on the back gate in the north . In addition to the natural turf playing field in the stadium, the facility has a training field with artificial turf .
In 2013, matches of the U-22 Asian football championship took place in the Al Seeb Stadium. It was one of three venues for the 2017 CISM World Football Trophy . The Omani national soccer team and the Syrian national soccer team use the Al-Seeb Stadium as one of the venues for the qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup .
