The Al Udeid Air Base (Arabic قاعدة العديد الجوية) is a military airfield and base of the Qatar Air Force . The base is located near Al Rayyan (32.18 km west of Doha ) in Qatar . It is mainly used by the United States Air Force , the Royal Air Force ( United Kingdom ) and the Royal Australian Air Force .

During the Afghan war, among other things, this base was used for military operations. The USAF has General Dynamics F-16 (multipurpose fighter jets ), Boeing E-8 JSTARS (reconnaissance aircraft), McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender (tank and transport aircraft), Lockheed C-130 and Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker (tanker aircraft) stationed here. The Royal Air Force has stationed two Lockheed P-3 (maritime patrol aircraft) and three C-130 Hercules (transport aircraft) here since 2003 . The Australian Hornets have been used on over 350 missions in Iraq. A total of 120 aircraft can be accommodated.

The runway is the longest in the entire Gulf region . The construction cost amounted to one billion US dollars.
