Branch Cable operator

The company NEFtv GmbH was owner of local radio broadband cable networks in the Greater Nuremberg regions and in rural areas around Würzburg and Schweinfurt. It was a competitor of Vodafone Kabel Deutschland as the operator of network levels 2 to 4 and, in the franchising process, operator of services that use the return channel capability of the cable networks, such as Internet and VoIP via broadband cable.

history

Since 2003, the company has been part of the Pepcom Group, a Germany-wide holding company that claims to be developing existing cable systems. Previously, NEFtv had taken over and operated the former communal telephone networks in the greater Nuremberg area for years under the name NEFkom . At the beginning of 2004 they were outsourced to M-net . During this time, the establishment of back-channel-capable cable connections was advanced. In addition, the housing industry in particular was offered the free modernization of the cable networks, which in return have been tied to the network operator through long-term contracts. Around 40,000 cable households are served in the greater Nuremberg area. At the beginning of 2006, the company took over ÜWU Mediendienste GmbH Würzburg with 18,000 residential units in rural areas around Schweinfurt and Würzburg .

The Pepcom Group was taken over by Tele Columbus in 2015 , which will be selling its products under the newly created umbrella brand Pÿur from October 2017 .

Product range

A basic range of analog radio and television programs was offered. In addition, there was a basic offer of unencrypted digital television programs, including selected private television programs that are part of the basic equipment of the cable connection in some housing companies and are billed via the ancillary costs. In addition, a foreign package was offered that contained a number of additionally encrypted channels, the encryption and collection of which was carried out by external service providers. It was also Pay TV available.

The Cablesurf internet tariffs , which were available on a contingent basis and only for a connection fee until the end of 2009, were given up in favor of cheaper flat-rate offers , but were still available to existing customers and tenants of Gewobau and Noris eG on request. The quota tariffs each included an expanded range of television services. After deducting the basic cable fee, the complete packages with telephone flat rate were now roughly the same as comparable DSL offers. Since the beginning of 2009, they have also been available to apartment tenants who previously could only choose the contingent tariffs through their housing company. The required cable modems still had to be rented additionally. Various telephone tariffs were also available without Internet under the name Cablefon .
