Alan Cohen

Alan Cohen (born November 25, 1934 in London ) is a British jazz musician ( soprano and tenor saxophone , arranger , composer ).

Live and act

Cohen attended the Royal Academy of Music . In 1967 he presented his music with his own band in Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club . Since then he has been recognized in the British jazz scene as an arranger and composer; He has written for Humphrey Lyttelton , Chris Barber , the National Youth Jazz Orchestra , The New Orchestra , The New Paul Whiteman Orchestra and the British, German and Danish radio big bands , among others . In 1972 he played with a big band his interpretation of Duke Ellington's suite Black, Brown and Beige , which received critical acclaim. From 1978 he led the Midnite Follies Orchestra with Keith Nichols . In 1986 he founded his own quintet. He also wrote arrangements for Bing Crosby and for the Charlie Watts big band (1985).
