Alan Forney
Alan Michael Forney (born June 28, 1960 in Beaufort , South Carolina ) is a retired rower from the United States . He was second in the 1984 Olympics with the four without a helmsman .
Career
The 1.93 m tall Alan Forney achieved fourth place at the 1982 World Championships with eighth . In 1983, the eighth finished seventh at the 1983 World Championships in Duisburg.
For the Olympic Games in Los Angeles , a four-man without a helmsman was nominated by the host association, which consisted of David Clark , Jon Smith , Philip Stekl and Alan Forney. A total of ten boats competed. The boats from New Zealand and the United States made it directly to the finals as preliminary winners, with four other boats qualifying via the hope runs. In the final, the New Zealanders won with over two and a half seconds ahead of the four from the United States, one and a half seconds behind the Danes won the bronze medal.
Alan Forney graduated from the University of Washington and later earned an MBA from Seattle Pacific University . After graduating, Forney worked in banking. He was also active in numerous honorary positions in the Seattle area.
