Brittany Kaiser (born 1988 in Houston , Texas ) spent three years with Cambridge Analytica (CA) as the director of business development. After details of the abuse of Facebook data that may have impacted voting in the UK Brexit referendum and the 2016 US presidential election , she resigned and went public. Kaiser testified before the British Parliament and the Mueller Committee of Inquiry about her involvement in the work of Cambridge Analytica.

Kaiser graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover in 2005 , then studied at Edinburgh University , City University of Hong Kong and Birkbeck, University of London before working at the World Bank Institute and the US Peace Institute. She later earned a PhD in Philosophy from Middlesex University . While studying in Scotland, Kaiser took time out to work on Barack Obama's media team during the 2008 presidential campaign . She also worked as a lobbyist for Amnesty International , which campaigned for an end to crimes against humanity.

Career

Between February 2015 and January 2018, Kaiser was a full-time director of business development for the SCL Group , the parent company of Cambridge Analytica. During her time at Cambridge Analytica, Kaiser worked under senior management, including CEO Alexander Nix .

After the Cambridge Analytica data scandal

After the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data scandal and the ensuing Cambridge Analytica bankruptcy in early 2018, Kaiser fled to Thailand . She later testified in the UK Parliament about Cambridge Analytica and Facebook's privacy threat. In June 2019, Kaiser was appointed to the advisory board of Phunware, a technology company in Austin . However, the message is currently no longer available. The company collected the location and user data of potential voters for the Trump 2020 campaign.

Kaiser is one of the main characters in the Netflix documentary The Great Hack , in which she covered her work at Cambridge Analytica.

Kaiser published her memoirs in the USA in October; a German translation has been available since the end of January 2020.

As of January 1, 2020, Kaiser began posting Cambridge Analytica (CA) internal documents on Twitter to links to material on elections in Brazil , Kenya and Malaysia . So far, it has published around 100,000 e-mails, project plans and negotiation documents that show that it exerts influence on elections and politics in 68 countries.

“That goes from the USA to Brazil and Kenya to Iran, India and Malaysia. CA was more powerful than most people know. "

According to Brittany Kaiser, a study by the University of Oxford shows that after the bankruptcy of CA, a large number of data analysis companies emerged that have adopted the business model from CA and in some cases go beyond it, for example via fake Facebook accounts through the use of bots , Trolls and so on.
