Alan Joseph Joyce AC (born June 30, 1966 in Dublin ) is an Irish - Australian manager . He lives openly as gay and campaigns for the rights of gays and lesbians as well as against a referendum on same-sex marriage in Australia . At a level of 12.96 million AUD he is currently the highest paid Australian managers.

Life

Joyce studied mathematics, physics and economics at the Dublin Institute of Technology and Trinity College Dublin . Since 2008, Joyce has succeeded Geoff Dixon as Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) of the Australian airline Qantas Airways . Joyce has lived in Sydney with his partner since 1999 . Joyce is a member of the IATA Supervisory Board .
