Alan Karajew ( Russian Алан Таймуразович Караев , English transcription Alan Karaev ; born May 19, 1977 in Digora , North Ossetia ) is an Ossetian sumo wrestler , arm wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter.

Life

Karajew studied at the chemical engineering faculty of the North Ossetian State University named kosta khetagurov ( Северо-Осетинский государственный университет имени Коста Левановича Хетагурова ) specializing in Silo and expertise in Vladikavkaz . Karajew is married and has a son and a daughter. Karajew started his career in arm wrestling and amateur sumo. Since 2005 he has also been fighting in MMA fights. He fights for the Rings Russia team .

Success in arm wrestling and sumo

Karajew is a nine-time arm wrestling world champion. He is also a seven-time Russian champion. In addition, Karajew was five times world champion in amateur sumo in the individual and in the team in the heavyweight and super-heavyweight division. He is four times European and four times Russian master in amateur sumo.

Mixed martial arts

Karajew played his first MMA fight at the K-1 PREMIUM 2005 Dynamite in Saitama against the experienced kickboxer Gary Goodridge . Karajew lost the fight after 2:58 minutes by a guillotine choke . He also lost his second fight in June against the 2 meter tall and 150 kg heavy American Bob Sapp by knocking out in the first round. This was followed by a victory against the Japanese Tomohiko Hashimoto after just 27 seconds by a technical knockout in September of the same year. In December 2005 Karajew went to Osaka against the famous French kickboxer Jérôme Le Banner and lost the fight in the 2nd round by knockout. His last fight in MMA so far was in February 2006 against the Japanese Koji Kanechika , whom he forced to give up in the first round using an arm lever (keylock) .
