Alan Prince

Alan Sanford Prince (born June 20, 1946 ) is professor of linguistics at Rutgers University in New Jersey .

Life

Prince developed the optimality theory together with Paul Smolensky in the early 1990s . Prior to joining Rutgers University, he taught linguistics at Brandeis University and the University of Massachusetts .
