Alan de la Zouche († 1190)
Alan de la Zouche (actually Alain de la Ceoche , † 1190 ) was an English , originally from Brittany originating nobleman . He was the founder of the English family Zouche .
Alan de la Zouche was probably a younger son of the Breton Viscount Gottfried von Porhoët and von Hawise, a daughter of Duke Alain IV of Brittany. During the reign of King Henry II , he moved to England before 1172. By marrying Alice de Belmeis, daughter of Philip de Belmeis and Maud de Meschins, he acquired a rich legacy including Tong in Shropshire , Ashby in Leicestershire and North Molton in Devon .
He had at least two children with his wife:
- William de Belmeis († 1199)
- Roger de la Zouche (1182-1238)
His heir eventually became his son Roger.
