Alatskivi (German Allatzkiwi or Allatzkiwwi ) is a former rural community in the Estonian district of Tartu with an area of 128.38 km². It had 1,510 inhabitants (April 1, 2005). Since 2017 it has belonged to the rural municipality of Peipsiääre .
In addition to the main town of Alatskivi, the rural community also included the villages of Alasoo, Haapsipea, Kesklahe, Kokora, Kuningvere, Kõdesi, Lahe, Lahepera, Linaleo, Naelavere, Nina, Orgemäe, Padakõrve, Passi, Peatskivi, Pusi, Päikmaotsi, Ronosi, Päroo , Rupsi, Saburi, Savastvere, Savimetsa, Sudemäe, Torila, Toruküla, Tõruvere, Virtsu and Väljaküla.
The Alatskivi manor was first mentioned in 1601. In 1628 the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf gave the property to his secretary Johan Adler Salvius . Following the example of Schloss Balmoral in Scotland the Castle of Alatskivi in was from 1880 to 1885 neo-Gothic style. The client was the German Balte Arved von Nolcken . The 120 hectare park already existed at the end of the 18th century.
In the village of Rupsi there is a museum in historic houses from the 19th century in memory of the writers Jakob and Juhan Liiv .
