Albane Gaillot

Albane Gaillot (born July 7, 1971 ) is a French politician who has represented the constituency of Val-de-Marne XI in the French National Assembly since 2017 . From 2016 to 2019 she was a member of the movement and party La République en Marche (LREM). In May 2020 she was one of the 17 MPs who founded the new Écologie Démocratie Solidarité parliamentary group in the National Assembly.

Studies and professional career

After studying law at the University of Panthéon-Assas , Gaillot started working for the Audiens organization in 1999 . She held various posts there.

Political career

Local politics

Gaillot's first political engagement was a candidacy in the 2014 local elections in fourth place on the "Villejuif notre ville" list, an ( ecologically oriented center-left - citizen list) led by Philippe Vidal ( DVG ). The list received 10.64% of the vote in the first ballot. For the second ballot it joined forces with three other lists, Gaillot was no longer represented on the new community list, which was headed by Franck Le Bohellec (UMP). She resigned from the "Villejuif notre ville" association in June 2015.

Member of the National Assembly

In the parliamentary elections in France in 2017 , Gaillot was elected as a member of the National Assembly in the 11th constituency of Val-de-Marne . She received 53.61% of the vote in the second ballot.

Gaillot is a member of the National Assembly's Social Committee. There she deals with women's rights, school education, disability issues, voice education and digitization. She is a member of the French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

In July 2019, Gaillot voted against the ratification of the CETA agreement.

On September 9, 2019, Gaillot announced that she would resign from the LREM faction in the chamber and only remain in a list connection with it. The list connection was established September 13th.

In November 2019, Gaillot, along with ten MEPs from the LREM group, opposed government measures relating to health care for migrants.

In May 2020, she and seven LREM dissidents joined the Ecologie Democratie Solidarité group, which resulted in the president losing an absolute majority in parliament and increasing pressure to turn politics more to the left.

Private

Gaillot is married and has two children. She has lived in Villejuif since 1976 . She is culturally, socially and as the mother of two students involved in community life. She cultivates her passion for the theater. She has taken part in workshops at the Romain Rolland Theater in Villejuif and plays in an amateur theater.
