Albert Bauer (fencer)

Albert Bauer (* 1900 ; † after 1951) was a German fencer and two-time German team champion. He fought first with the Frankfurt gymnastics community, later with the fencing club Hermannia Frankfurt.

Bauer was born into a fencing family as the son of fencer Heinrich Bauer . The father was a multiple winner at gymnastics festivals and the Gauverband festivals of the Gauverband Mittelrheinischer fencing clubs . Albert Bauer's uncle and several other relatives also fought. In 1919 Albert Bauer began fencing at the Frankfurt gymnastics community, and in 1935 he moved to FC Hermannia Frankfurt. With him he was able to win the German team championships in saber fencing in 1937 . In 1938 he was a member of the foil team, which was also victorious in the German championship .

After 1938 there were no more German team championships until 1951 due to the war. In 1951 the team of FC Hermannia Frankfurt won the German championships in foil and epee. As a member of the team, Bauer was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on December 7, 1951 .
