Albert Benjamin Prescott (born December 12, 1832 in Hastings , New York - † February 25, 1905 ) was an American chemist .

Life

Prescott graduated from the University of Michigan with an MD (MD) in 1864. In the same year he volunteered as a military surgeon in the Civil War . In 1865 he became Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Michigan, in 1870 Dean of the School of Pharmacy and in 1884 Director of the Chemical Laboratory, which he remained until his death.

He has published books on analytical chemistry and the chemistry of alcoholic beverages.

In 1886 he was president of the American Chemical Society , in 1891 he was president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and in 1900 of the American Pharmacists Association.
